The Illabo to Stockinbingal section is about 39km of new rail corridor located within the local government areas of Junee and Cootamundra-Gundagai. It will provide a direct route from east of Illabo, tracking north to Stockinbingal and connecting into the existing Forbes rail line.Illabo to Stockinbingal is a DIDO Project, accommodation is provided on the 2:1 (2 weeks on / 1 week off) roster.About The RoleSite Engineer Bulk EarthworksAssisting in the preparation of the project plan, which includes the earthworks strategy, scheduling, and resource allocation.Conducting or overseeing site surveys to determine the topography and geology of the site, which will inform the earthworks plan.Reviewing the earthworks design and ensuring that it complies with all relevant regulations, standards, and the project specifications.Transferring the design onto the ground, which may involve marking out the site before construction begins, ensuring that the work is carried out to the correct specifications.Overseeing the day-to-day operations on site, which includes supervising construction workers and subcontractors to ensure that the earthworks are completed as per the project plan.Working closely with other professionals on the project, such as project managers, architects, and other engineers, to ensure that the earthworks integrate seamlessly with other project elements.Ensuring that the earthworks are completed to a high standard and in accordance with the project's quality requirements.Implementing and monitoring health and safety measures on site to protect workers and the public. This includes conducting safety inspections and ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation.Addressing any technical or logistical problems that arise during the earthworks phase, which may involve making on-the-spot decisions to keep the project on track.Keeping detailed records of the work carried out, including progress reports, safety inspections, and any changes to the original plan.Monitoring the cost of the earthworks phase of the project, ensuring that it stays within budget.Ensuring that the earthworks activities comply with environmental regulations, which may include implementing erosion and sediment control measures and managing any contaminated soil appropriately.Maintaining effective communication with stakeholders, including clients, local authorities, and the public, about the status and impact of the earthworks.To be successful in this key role, you must have:Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.Postgraduate qualifications are an advantage but not essential.Experience in delivering Australian civil or rail projects.Ideally, previous experience working for a Tier 1 or 2 Contractor.Skills in relevant computer software packages; Microsoft Suite etc. are essential.
