What is the opportunity? As Lead Scrum Master, within Insurance Technology you will lead/contribute to key insurance technology projects through the use of RBC’s agile methodology, stakeholder management and governance expertise to meet program goals. We are looking for strategic thinker, and passionate agile project management enthusiast to drive and support leadership team on executing data and digital strategy.As a member of this dynamic, fast paced team this role will highlight your strong project management and extensive scrum master knowledge and experience. You will be accountable for the SCRUM teams’ effectiveness and leading the team on the implementation of agile practices and policies. Including leading, training and coaching others in the organization on the adoption of the Scrum framework and applying lean thinking principles. What will you do?
1. Ensure strong, consistent application of the right Agile Leadership Capabilities through effective stakeholder and scope management, team leadership, and management of internal and external dependencies.
2. Interact with stakeholders and quickly learn the business objectives, project concepts, leading the team through to successful incremental deployment of value driven solutions.
3. Oversee and manage each SCRUM deliverable including vendor-related deliverables for quality and completion. You will work with minimum supervision and full accountability, directing work efforts and finding timely solutions to incidental issues.
4. Participate in quarterly big room planning, setup JIRA board for quarterly program increments, and manage scrum of scrums, remove impediments, and execute sprint ceremonies such as sprint planning, retrospective etc. across multiple scrum teams.
5. Demonstrate strong competence in Project Delivery Excellence by establishing and maintaining effective project governance routines, facilitating, and planning meetings and ceremonies in alignment with RBC's agile Framework, mandatory Artifacts and Methodologies, to ensure clear, concise and timely communication across project deliverables, including management of project financials and understanding of benefits and business outcomes.
6. Execute effective Schedule Management skills using scheduling and estimating tools to estimate and sequence project tasks, milestones and deliverables in alignment with desired outcomes.
7. Uphold effective Risk & Issue Management by proactively identifying, documenting, and managing risks and issues with clear mitigation plans.
What do you need to succeed? Must Have
8. 5+ years in SAFe agile delivery and Project Management experience
9. Undergraduate degree with Certified Scrum Master or equivalent certification, and an extensive working knowledge of SDLC and Agile delivery methodologies
10. Advanced project management knowledge including plan development; scheduling methodology; project metrics gathering, analyzing, and reporting; risk assessment and quantification methodologies; cost/benefit analysis and alternatives identification; budgeting, financials and benefits management.
11. General management skills including negotiating, communicating and team building.
12. Proficiency in JIRA and Confluence
Nice to have
13. Advanced Certified Scrum Master and Certified SaFe Practitioner or equivalent.
14. Experience in a matrix organization, working with a variety of environments (Cloud, distributed and mainframe, business workflows and services/APIs, databases). Knowledge of Insurance domain is a plus.
15. Ability to impact and influence at the Senior Leadership level
16. Proven ability to manage projects with third-party vendors and significant technology components.
