What you'd be doing in this role The role will help us build and improve our Gen AI platform and products such as "Ask Canva", our user-facing chatbot that provides detailed user support by using cutting-edge LLM techniques along with deep integration of our systems using tool calling.We aim to enhance our users' help experience by instantly answering complex questions about their Canva account and by automating the most common support requests. You will be working closely alongside other backend engineers and MLEs to build the best AI support in the world for our customers.We embody pragmatic engineering and enjoy a collaborative approach to problem-solving. Here is what you'll do: Contribute to the design and build of our user support GenAI platform; Provide incremental improvements to our platform; Build key user-facing features for "Ask Canva" our customer support chatbot; Introduce cutting-edge AI capabilities into our stack; Build deep integrations to Canva to better support our users; Present opportunities in AI for our team to pursue. You're probably a match if: Strong commercial experience in a software development environment, building scalable backend systems; Most of our code is in Java, so ideally you will be comfortable using it; You love solving complex problems and working with others in a collaborative problem-solving environment; You are a highly engaged, passionate and pragmatic engineer who has an interest in working with LLMs and other GenAI capabilities in a User Support context.
