Find out more about us and our purpose.Working in collaboration with the Financial Wellbeing Collective, the Energy Coach plays an important role in supporting households across the Geraldton region. This essential client-facing position involves conducting household energy assessments, delivering tailored energy efficiency reports, and providing education and coaching to improve energy literacy. By offering low-cost energy-efficient items and addressing barriers to energy-efficient technologies, the role aims to reduce energy consumption and costs for households experiencing financial hardship.As part of the Household Energy Efficiency Scheme (HEES), this key role contributes to assisting up to 9,000 households to better manage energy use and connect with appropriate services. The Energy Coach operates independently, maintaining high standards of accuracy and demonstrating flexibility under pressure, ensuring impactful and meaningful outcomes for the community.Your Key ResponsibilitiesCompleting in-home and virtual energy assessments focusing on household energy use, thermal performance, and opportunities to improve efficiency.Engage with clients to understand their energy behaviours, deliver phone and in-person coaching sessions, and encourage sustainable practices to reduce energy consumption and costs.Develop and provide comprehensive Household Energy Efficiency Reports and Action Plans following standard templates, offering clear, actionable guidance to address energy usage concerns.Distribute Household Energy Efficiency Packs with low-cost energy-efficient items such as draft-proofing tools, light globes, thermometers, and shower timers.Support clients in reading utility bills, accessing online services, and connecting with utility hardship programs to improve their energy literacy and financial resilience.Identify and refer eligible households for high-cost appliance replacements and other complementary programs, working collaboratively with external agencies under the Household Energy Efficiency Scheme (Energy Ahead).Maintain accurate client records, collect required data, and ensure compliance with privacy legislation, workplace policies, and funder conditions through consistent use of the Energy Ahead data management system.Requirements for SuccessWith a background in Community Services and/or an Outreach Service sector, you will be confident in your assessment processes and compliance culture.Diploma in Community Service or willing to obtain, or relevant experience in a similar role.Demonstrated experience and understanding of working with vulnerable people and the issues impacting them such as Homelessness.Keen ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.Positive and person-centred approach with a deep understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and communities.Sound understanding of Mission Australia's Values and application of these when interacting with internal and external stakeholders.Current knowledge of relevant policy and legislation.Advanced communication skills both verbal and written.Experience working with a matrix management system – multiple lines of managers internally and externally.Ability to work autonomously and effectively under pressure.Full driver licence with no restrictions.Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.Our CultureOur innovative and inclusive culture will ensure you feel valued at Mission Australia as you help Australians in need and develop in your career.We prioritize the safety and wellbeing of everyone, both within our team and the individuals we serve.We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive working environment.
