The AODS and Specialist Teams at the Mackay Community Health Centre is seeking applications for a Clinical Nurse - Queensland Illicit Drug Diversion Initiative (QIDDI) to join their team on a permanent basis.
Your opportunity
QIDDI is a drug diversion program to provide people who are convicted of an illicit drug offence with the opportunity to divert from the criminal justice system into the health care system. The QIDDI Clinical Nurse provides advanced level clinical evidence-based skills in assessment, education, and counselling as well as providing advice on the possible health and legal consequences of continued use. The clinical nurse will work with clients to develop a plan to address drug-taking behaviour. Within the Alcohol and Other Drugs Services, the QIDDI clinical nurse will provide leadership and support to other clinical staff and students.
About the Team
The Alcohol and Other Drugs service aims to build safe and healthy communities by taking action to minimise the health, social, and economic harms caused by alcohol and other drugs. The Mackay AODS provides a specialist and comprehensive service across the continuum of alcohol and other drug assessment, intervention, and community maintenance/aftercare. The service is supportive of the client and their family/carer through child and family-sensitive practice. The team uses a harm minimisation approach within a case management model of service delivery, offers an intake service, Opioid Treatment Program, and also provides services to the Queensland Police Service and Department of Corrections via the Queensland Illicit Drug Diversion Initiative, offering scheduled appointments for both Police and Court Diversion clients.
