This position provides high-level technical expertise in mechanical maintenance, focusing on preventative and corrective maintenance activities for complex engine and electricity generation equipment used in power plants that run on natural gas and diesel fuels.
About the Role
* Work within required Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) processes and procedures.
* Maintain gas/diesel reciprocating engines and electricity generation equipment.
* Manage and investigate critical plant emergency incidents, complete plant failure/condition technical reports, and efficiency assessments.
* Comply with manufacturers' and Client's procedures and recommendations for maintenance activity.
* Contribute to the development and maintenance of site records to ensure accurate historical information for maintenance purposes, including use of the maintenance management system and time confirmation of all tasks.
* Participate in an on-call roster and travel to other stations when required.
Educational Requirements
* Mechanical Fitter or Diesel Mechanic trade qualifications or equivalent technical work experience on large reciprocating engines.
* Current full NT driver's licence or ability to transfer.
* Extensive experience in maintaining gas/diesel reciprocating engines (Man Diesel and GE Jenbacher knowledge highly desirable).
* Demonstrated ability to perform detailed fault-finding on industrial gas turbines and large reciprocating engines, isolate multiple energy sources, and work within permit to work systems.
* Ability to read and interpret technical documents, drawings, and procedures.
* Strong problem-solving skills to enable resolution of administrative, operational, or maintenance issues.
* Proficient computer skills for the effective use of information technology, records, spreadsheets, and computerised maintenance management systems, and ability to learn and operate computer-based maintenance, stores, and office management systems.
* Demonstrated competency in the area of workplace safety and commitment to safe work practices.
Desirable Qualifications
* Minimum 3 years' experience in maintaining large reciprocating engines.
* High Risk Licences (CSE, forklift, working at heights, EWP), current senior first aid, or ability and willingness to obtain.
* Current gas fitter type B certification.
* Contractor management and supervision experience.
