About the role Reporting to the Head Baker, you will be someone willing to take on new baking challenges and experiences and have the ability to produce consistent high-quality artisan breads with knowledge and experience in the following areas: Mixing of Sourdough and Time dough Breads Hand Moulding Rack and Deck oven operation Sound numeracy Sound written and verbal communication skills Our full-time bakers work a 5-day week with shifts running across the afternoon into the evening. Summary: The Baker is responsible for preparing a variety of baked goods for wholesalers. They must follow recipes, mix and prepare ingredients, and ensure that all baked goods are of high quality and served fresh and timely. Responsibilities: Plan and prepare a variety of baked goods Mix, measure, and prepare ingredients according to recipes Use various baking techniques to create a wide range of bakery products Ensure that all baked goods are prepared on time and to the required quality standards Operate ovens, mixers, and other bakery equipment in a safe and efficient manner Monitor and adjust oven temperatures, baking times, and other factors as required Decorate baked goods using various techniques Maintain an inventory of ingredients and ensure that all supplies are stocked Ensure that all baked goods are stored appropriately and maintain food hygiene standards Follow all health and safety guidelines and regulations as required Qualifications: Proven experience as a Baker in the hospitality and tourism industry Excellent knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and equipment Creativity and imagination in creating new recipes and designs Good time management skills and the ability to work under pressure Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Excellent communication and interpersonal skills A high level of physical fitness and stamina Knowledge of hygiene and food safety regulations A relevant qualification in bakery or culinary arts or equivalent experience is desirable Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
