About The Role
The News Editor plays a central role in the collection, processing & upload of content processed by the sub-editor team, ensuring various content processing guidelines and deadlines are met. This involves working under the guidance of the Managing Editor to ensure tasks support the overall team's responsibilities and daily content coverage.
Responsibilities
The News Editor will:
1. Play a central role in the collection, processing & upload of content processed by the sub-editor team.
2. Proof-read & edit content prior to its publication on the website.
3. Deliver Capital Monitor's premium Instant Email Alerts relevant to client subscriptions.
4. Write short content pieces as instructed by the Managing Editor.
5. Work flexible hours to suit Parliamentary sitting patterns, and Government publishing cycles.
6. Provide general office support as required.
7. Perform any other duties reasonably required by the company.
Requirements
The successful candidate will have:
1. Tertiary qualifications in law, politics, communications / journalism preferred, with other streams and / or proven relevant skills gained through experience also considered.
2. Web design, and / or graphic design skills (highly desirable).
3. Knowledge of government process & parliamentary procedure (preferred).
4. Online content/database management experience.
5. Document management using in-house systems.
6. Using style guides for writing / editing.
7. Social media experience.
