The Utilities Designer reports to a Lead Utilities Engineer and Team Leader within the Roads & Highways sectionIn this role you will be responsible for providing utilities design production on assigned Jacobs’ Roads & Highways, rail and related civil projects within Jacobs’ Transport business. The Utilities Designer may be client facing and provides support to the engineering team to develop suitable 3D models of utilities networks to incorporate into the road and infrastructure models of assigned projects. The Utilities Designer is expected to contribute to design production on projects and should have experience with the requirements and regulations associated with utility infrastructure in NSW. The primary software used is 12d however modelling experience with other software (eg Civil 3D, OpenRoads) is considered. You will provide direction to junior designers and remote workshare staff in the correct application of design software, interpretation and application of design standards and ensure that designs are produced in a consistent manner and to the quality expected by clients. You will interface with the Utilities team and Design Manager and Project Engineers, as well as interface with our offshore resources who are part of Jacobs’ Global Integrated Delivery (GID) team. Our GID team are closely integrated with our local businesses within a virtual environment and work as dedicated team members alongside our local staff. You will be supported by a dedicated utilities team made up of varying levels including Technical Director, Senior Utilities Engineers, Experienced Utility Modellers, with a focus on ongoing support.
