As our Tax Manager, you are also responsible for ensuring the group maintains and further develops strong tax governance and approaches this role with a view to continuous process improvement.You'll partner and report to the Senior Tax Manager and sit with a small team, you'll work closely with the different business divisions and take ownership and management of the Group's tax compliance obligations, ensuring they are completed accurately and within strict timeframes. This role offers a high level of autonomy with ample opportunity to shape and develop it.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Management of group's tax compliance obligations Review and sign off on quarterly and annual distribution calculations prepared by external service provider, including calculation of tax components, withholding tax calculations and associated distribution paperwork. Prepare annual distribution resolutions in accordance with fund distribution policies and trust deeds. Review and sign off on income tax returns prepared by external service provider and management of annual lodgement program. Review of Annual Investment Income Reports (AIIRs) and Taxable Annual Payment Reports (TPARs). Review of tax provision workings, franking accounts and Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) returns prepared by corporate accounting team. Periodic reporting against Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB) tax conditions. Maintain tax cost bases. Manage external service provider for timely preparation and lodgement of monthly, quarterly and annual activity statement reporting obligations. Tax advisory services Annual testing of Managed Investment Trust (MIT) status. Thin capitalisation. GST issues, including eligibility for GST registration and GST grouping, management of indirect tax sharing and indirect tax funding agreements, assessing GST recovery and required apportionment, availability of reduced input tax credits. Capital gains tax assessments. Effective tax loss utilisation, including loss testing. Significant Global Entity (SGE) / Country-by-Country Reporting (Cb CR) status, Reportable Tax Positions and hybrid mismatch disclosures. Income tax and GST advice on project costs. Lease/incentive deed reviews for prospective tenant arrangements. Taxation of Financial Arrangement (TOFA) provisions. Tax governance and reporting Prepare and maintain tax process documentation. Annual review of tax risk management and governance framework. Assist with internal/external audit of tax controls; implementation of strategies to address any gaps identified. Assist with periodic reporting on tax risk. Administration of tax compliance function Assist with reviewing scope of services and quotes provided by external tax advisers and negotiations in this regard. Manage tax compliance budget and payment of associated invoices. Manage ATO correspondence and ATO Business Portal, including access and authorised contacts. Qualifications & Experience Degree qualified in Economics/Commerce and/or Law, with majors in Accounting and Taxation Law. Strong trust tax experience essential (including AMIT, MIT, distribution resolutions, WHT). Must have corporate tax experience (including income tax, tax provisions, GST, FBT). Understanding of international tax issues, including thin capitalisation, transfer pricing, SGE and Cb CR. Must have experience in managing tax compliance deadlines for a large volume of entities.
