Tasks & Responsibilities:
* Play a key leadership role in overseeing daily transport operations while also driving strategic initiatives that contribute to the long-term success of the business. You will be responsible for optimizing operational performance, ensuring efficient and cost-effective transport solutions, and leading the team to meet organizational goals.
* Leverage your experience and market knowledge to actively identify and pursue new business development opportunities, focusing on building and expanding relationships with current and potential customers.
* Work closely with the sales team to support client acquisition and retention, providing insights and expertise to develop tailored transport solutions. By understanding market trends and customer needs, you'll contribute to growing the transport service offerings and expanding the customer base.
* Provide leadership, development, and guidance to a diverse range of areas within the Operations while directing and building your team to ensure operational success of the national linehaul division.
* Conduct regular customer review meetings, building strong, long-term relationships with key clients, while presenting performance metrics, KPIs, and improvement plans, fostering transparency and collaboration to drive customer satisfaction and loyalty.
* Work within the Operations Budget to meet the operations financial targets, achieving a business profit result while expanding future opportunities through business development and sales support.
* Be accountable for the overall performance and success of the business unit, maintaining high standards in operations and achieving operational plan goals.
Skills & Experience:
* 5+ years experience in Line Haul operations and people management.
* Strong communication and negotiation skills as well as a proven ability to leverage established industry relationships.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members, other departments, and external stakeholders.
* Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain or Business Management or other relevant discipline, or extensive industry experience.
* Strong leadership abilities to oversee and guide a team of operators, dispatchers, and other personnel.
* A deep understanding of regulations, compliance, and safety standards.
* Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS), routing software, and other relevant tools.
