We are recognised for our culture, innovation and industry-leading development of infrastructure, mining assets and green energy initiatives.Location: Perth based (Redcliffe or Hazelmere)Roster: 5/2 roster (Mon to Fri)In support of Fortescue's strong focus on green energy and carbon neutrality targets, Fortescue Zero is the incubator for the development of green technologies and pioneering solutions which are integral to realising Fortescue's decarbonisation targets, whilst being equally relevant in the broader global market.Based at our Hazelmere and Redcliffe facilities, reporting to the Principal Engineer Industrial Automation - Heavy Industry, we are searching for an experienced EV Charging System Communication Engineer to help deliver a suite of charging products for Heavy Machinery.Key Responsibilities Responsible for the design and deployment of EVSE communications for the Fortescue charger program and ensure deliverables are completed on time and within budget.Subject matter expert for the communication between the electric vehicle (EV) and the electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE)Familiar with the design and simulation of communication software and hardware used in the EV charging industry.Expertise in the implementation of EVSE, interfacing with multiple external stakeholders from CMS, EMS, etc.Embrace modern task management tools such as JIRA to track progress, flag open technical issues and reporting.Closely collaborate with the control system engineers for interfacing equipment of power electronics, robotics, etc.Work with other engineering disciplines, project management team in a V-Model product development framework.Contribute with the software development lifecycle workflow and establish the required processes and frameworks.Ensure the EV charging system design, implementation and testing comply to relevant industry standards and safety requirements.Ensure the communication between electric vehicle communication controller (EVCC) and supply equipment communication controller (SECC) undergo comprehensive verification and validation process, resulting in quality, reliability, and consistent products.Qualifications and Experience Bachelor of Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Telecommunication, Computer science or Software Engineering.5+ years' experience in EV charging systems and communications design, deployment, testing, and commissioning.Experience in systems engineering in a product development environment is essential.Significant Experience with CCS charging standards is essential.Experience with MCS (Megawatt Charging System) is advantageous.Thorough understanding of ISO 15118-2/15118-20, OCPP 1.6, OCPP 2.0.1 and working experience is essential.Experience with JIRA, Confluence, Git, software development workflow is advantageous.Experience with Functional Safety standards and Cybersecurity is advantageous.Solid foundation in industrial communications protocols; CAN, Ethernet, I2C, SPI, RS232, RS485, OPC UA is beneficial.Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders and in multidiscipline teams.Strong, effective verbal and written communication skillsAbility to learn fast and adapt to an environment with dynamic process and program requirements.Our Commitment Fortescue celebrates individual strengths and team members are encouraged to bring their whole selves to work.
