Reporting to the General Manager, you will provide accurate, timely and compliant package estimates for our Mining and Industrial clients. You will also liaise with engineering and compliance departments to ensure all aspects of submissions meet specified documentation and that safety, quality and cost requirement standards are fulfilled. Additionally, you will work with the project management and fabrication teams to ensure a smooth transition into production, that maintains profitability and promised schedules.Key Responsibilities Provide input into the 'buildability' of projects during the design phase to ensure that the design is generated in the most cost-effective manner.Review preliminary specifications and drawings etc., to determine scope of works.Develop the project scope in consultation with the Project Manager and the client.Ensure all tasks and plans are in accordance with legislation, regulation, and services requirements.Prepare accurate and timely Bills of Quantities and/or cost plans.Send out tender packages to approved subcontractors, suppliers, trades etc.Undertake a comprehensive review of subcontractor and other pricing.Prepare tender submission to the client in conjunction with the Project Manager.Maintain knowledge of the latest design and innovative construction techniques in order to provide the best solutions to clients.Skills and Experience Minimum of 3 years' experience in structural steel and sheet steel estimating for manufacturing/fabrication industry.Have a sound understanding of welded products and the engineering process of producing fabricated steel products.Comprehensive knowledge of engineering / architectural drawings and understanding scope of works.Ability to utilise superior organisational skills to work efficiently and effectively in high pressure environments.Self-motivated individual who has initiative to deliver outcomes, meet project deadlines and accurately read and interpret specifications confidently.Possess demonstrable experience in compiling tenders and quotes.Negotiation skills in a similar role / position.High level of accuracy and attention to detail.Tertiary qualifications in building, engineering, quantity surveying or related building industry disciplines (desirable).Mining and large-scale industry and infrastructure experience (desirable).Why Work at AhrensWe are continually evolving and investing in our people and facilities to achieve satisfying outcomes.
