About the role We are seeking a Transport Distribution Coordinator to join our team at the Yarwun site in Gladstone.
This role involves coordinating logistics distribution activities throughout the Australia-Pacific region for specialty mining chemicals.
The Orica Yarwun site near Gladstone, Queensland, is crucial to Orica's global operations, producing over 500,000 tonnes of ammonium nitrate annually for explosives.
It features multiple plants for nitric acid, ammonium nitrate, and sodium cyanide, while maintaining high health, safety, and environmental standards to minimize community impact.
What you will be doing Manage road and rail distribution for specialty mining chemicals, including the creation of bookings for rail movements; Schedule orders for dispatch via rail or road, plan empty container collections, and manage miscellaneous movements; Accurately complete required ERP (SAP – 4/S Hannah) processes and transactions, related to transport and inventory tasks; Participate in regular operational engagements with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to plan movements and proactively mitigate supply chain challenges; Efficiently prepare accurate transport documentation; Provide operational and administrative support to peers and the Specialist Warehouse and Distribution; and Support inventory control activity across multiple storage locations.
What you will bring At least 2 years of experience in the logistics industry.
Experience and understanding the usual operation of port and rail services in Australia.
Moderate understanding of safety in relation to heavy vehicle and chemical transport.
Experience with large-scale ERP systems (SAP S/4-Hanna preferred) for customer order and transport task processing.
Front-line customer service experience, preferably in a logistics or manufacturing environment.
Ability to plan and make smart operational decisions.
