Help crunch the numbers as the Assistant Accountant in this busy fire safety services business located in Melbourne's Eastern suburbs.About the role:Fire Equipment Services (FES) is Fire Rescue Victoria's commercial service provider, working in our Blackburn office.This fixed term role (until June 2025) will suit an experienced financial professional looking for a fixed term role.As the Assistant Accountant at FES your immediate focus is to assist with the management of high-volume financial processes, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial transactions and associated reports.Naturally, you ensure financial compliance with contractual arrangements between FES and stakeholders.You will be able to effectively problem solve financial queries, and with your practised attention to detail, you will readily prevent errors and provide recommendations for financial process improvements.About you:As a results-driven professional, you are systematic in your daily tasks and processes.
Your background may include roles as an Accountant, Accounts (AP and/or AR), Financial Accountant, or Bookkeeper.To be considered for this role you must have:Tertiary Accounting qualificationCPA or progress toward CPA (Desirable)Functional Accountabilities include:Perform end-of-period tasks in the preparation of financial reporting to management.Distribution of monthly financial reports, revenue and expense accruals, margin analysis by revenue stream/client/project, contractor payment audits, and other submissions requested by FRV finance and management.Provide recommendations to enhance financial and operational performance.Assist with annual budget preparation and prepare audit documentation requirements.Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.Analyse client requirements and provide recommendations on financial and operational setup on the FES customer system.Maintain an accurate customer database ensuring accuracy with contractual arrangements with clients, suppliers, and technicians.Proactively provide advice and manage, process and review payments to suppliers, technicians, and the sales team.Prepare invoices to clients ensuring accuracy and timeliness including invoice stops, consolidated invoice packages, project invoicing, and reconciliations.About us:Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) is a modern fire and rescue service that meets the needs of twenty-first century Victoria.
