Period of Appointment Appointment to the role is on a fix ed term flexible basis (up to 73.5 hours per fortnight) to 30 June 2027. Duties Plan, manage and undertake office, laboratory, and field based geoscientific studies to improve the understanding of the size and characteristics of current and potential critical mineral resources in Tasmania. Develop plans that scope and define activities that will deliver research outcomes that expand the knowledge base held by Mineral Resources Tasmania. Provide geoscientific advice and information to internal and external clients based on up-to-date knowledge and expertise. Prepare technical reports and Departmental publications on any aspect of work undertaken to publication standard. Prepare information in a range of formats appropriate to a variety of audiences. In the field, the position will lead and manage a small team and actively promote a culture of safety, compliance and continuous improvement. Develop, foster and maintain quality working relationships with stakeholders, including the Mineral exploration and Mining Industry. Essential Requirements Evidence of the following must be provided prior to appointment to this role: Satisfactory completion of an appropriate graduate qualification at a recognised University. Current full driver’s licence. The person must continue to satisfy the above essential requirements/qualifications throughout their employment in this role. Desirable Requirements Post-graduate degree or diploma in a field of geoscience. Demonstrated experience in the study of minerals systems, with proven strong field-based component. Demonstrable experience in the geology of critical mineral deposits which may occur in Tasmania. A current First Aid Certificate.
