About the role
This is a new role that ideally is located in Coffs Harbour; however, home location may be negotiated at either Newcastle or Ballina. As the Regional Event Coordinator (Tackling Indigenous Smoking) with Ready.Quit.Solid., you will play a pivotal role in coordinating and delivering high-impact events and activities to support the Tackling Indigenous Smoking program from the Tweed to the Hawkesbury Rivers. This full-time contract position through to June 2027 is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the health and wellbeing across the Aboriginal communities within the geographical footprint.
What you'll be doing
* Develop and implement a comprehensive event plan to engage the local Indigenous community in smoking cessation initiatives.
* Coordinate and execute a variety of events, workshops, and awareness campaigns aimed at promoting healthier lifestyles and reducing smoking rates.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including community leaders, health providers, and local organisations.
* Manage event logistics, including venue booking, catering, promotional materials, and event staffing.
* Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of events, using data to inform future planning and improvement.
* Collaborate with the wider Galambila team to ensure a cohesive and coordinated approach to community engagement.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of the Tackling Indigenous Smoking program strategy.
What we're looking for
Please note that Galambila Aboriginal Health Service considers that being Australian Aboriginal is a genuine occupational qualification under s.14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 NSW – the successful applicant will need to provide documentation that they are recognised by the Aboriginal Community as being of Aboriginal descent.
We are looking for someone who will be able to develop and manage programs with community stakeholders across the footprint. You will be able to manage program delivery based on the changing needs of diverse communities and work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders. You will be able to problem solve and be proactive in anticipating challenges. You will be able to deliver messages that inspire trust with our communities. You will need to have developed interpersonal skills, being self-aware, self-manage, and manage social communications and friction within and across groups. Finally, you will need to develop and implement team plans clearly linked to targets and goals.
