The Opportunity
We're searching for a diligent Workshop Supervisor to manage our Road Train Haulage Maintenance Operations at Onslow Iron. Directly reporting to the Workshop Superintendent, your priority will be supervising all labour and contract resources, managing safe and efficient daily asset maintenance, ensuring compliance with safe work systems, and cost-effectively minimising downtime.
As a full-time permanent member of our team, you will be working on a roster of 8 days on, 6 days off, 7 nights on, 7 days off.
Responsibilities include :
* Complying with MinRes Safety & HSEQT legislative requirements.
* Overseeing daily activities of the workshop team.
* Managing our team of Heavy Diesel Mechanics, Auto Electricians, Boilermakers, and Trade Assistants.
* Scheduling and prioritising repairs and maintenance tasks for haulage vehicles.
* Maintaining inventory levels and coordinating with procurement for parts and supplies.
* Inspecting completed work and conducting quality checks.
* Mentoring and motivating staff to maximise productivity and performance.
* Implementing preventive maintenance programs to minimise equipment breakdowns.
* Collaborating with other departments to optimise fleet operations.
Ideal Candidate :
We're looking for someone who has at least 5 years' experience in a similar role, demonstrating successful leadership, coordination of multiple trades, and relationship building. Experience in managing logistics in mining environments is required.
Other key skills, experience, and qualifications include :
* Experience in the haulage or transportation industry.
* Australian recognised Mechanical Trade Qualification.
* Current Section 26.
* Strong technical knowledge of road trains, diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and vehicle diagnostics.
* Leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
* Ability to work under pressure and solve problems efficiently.
* Familiarity with Fleet Maintenance software (highly desirable).
