About the Role
We are seeking experienced Mental Health Nurses to join our team at Loddon Prison and Middleton Annex. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, providing high-quality mental health care to individuals in need.
Job Summary
This role involves delivering primary mental health services to individuals in prison, working collaboratively with healthcare teams and other service providers to enhance and promote the health of people in prison. The successful candidate will have strong clinical nursing skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work unsupervised.
* Provide primary mental health nursing services to individuals in prison
* Undertake At Risk assessments for individuals identified as at risk of self-harm or suicide
* Conduct primary mental health nurse clinics, including patient assessments, treatment planning, and ongoing care discussions
* Offer consultancy services to primary health nursing staff and other service providers
* Participate in clinical handover meetings within the health team
* Maintain accurate records of patient occasions of service, declining services, non-attendance, and appointment scheduling in the electronic medical record (EMR)
Requirements
* Valid Australian driver's licence
* Ability to work within a prison setting, involving direct contact with individuals in prison
* Satisfactory completion of a National Criminal History Check
* Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
* Flexibility to work outside of ordinary business hours
