(HE09) + 17% superannuation About the opportunity The School of Psychology is welcoming applications for a Neuroscience Emerging Assets and External Partnerships Director to lead the development and commercialisation of neuroscience related intellectual property, translating research into market-ready assets aligned with industry needs.
The position involves building collaborative networks with academic, industry, and government partners, while engaging with clinicians and patient populations to guide commercialisation and validate findings. Key responsibilities include developing and managing an asset portfolio (emerging and established), securing funding, and mentoring early-career researchers.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
provide strategic leadership: drive the development and commercialization of neuroscience- and CNS- related intellectual property and assets emerging from discovery neuroscience laboratory
translate research into commercial assets: identify and prioritize innovative projects for market transition in alignment with industry needs
build collaborative networks: engage with academic researchers, industry partners, investors, and government agencies to foster technology transfer and partnerships
manage stakeholder engagement: engage with clinicians and patient populations to gather insights that guide commercialisation outcomes and/or validate research findings
manage asset portfolio: oversee the asset pipeline, evaluating projects for commercial potential and regulatory compliance
secure funding: identify funding opportunities and collaborate on grant applications to support asset development.

a PHD, Medical Degree, or equivalent.
demonstrated experience in fostering an entrepreneurial culture with current and well-developed global network within sectors relevant to commercialisation of academic research
experience developing and delivering a program of events and activities to engage a target audience
experience and understanding of attracting funding from a range of sources, including government (e.g. NHMRC), philanthropy, and industry (Pharma), including international sources
previous experience working on clinical projects within an academic, CRO or pharmaceutical environment, preferably at a global level
experience in the higher education sector and in the supervision of research students.
