To clean and maintain the kitchen, kitchen equipment, and dishes. Assist Cooks with basic food preparation.
Duties & Responsibilities
Maintenance and Cleaning:
* Clean and maintain the kitchen, kitchen equipment and dishes.
* Cleaning and performing dishwashing duties as required using high heat industrial dishwashing equipment.
* Use of specialized chemicals to clean kitchen equipment when required.
Food Services:
* Under the general direction of the Cook or Food Services Manager uses own judgment to engage in food preparation such as cutting and washing vegetables and fruit, sandwich making, slicing meat and during mealtimes assist in the plating of food on the assembly line.
* Follows all health and safety policies and procedures.
* To work cooperatively with other staff and volunteers.
* Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Education:
* Grade 10
* WHMIS certification
Training and Experience:
* One year of experience in a dishwashing/food prep role.
* A minimum of one year of experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Skills and Abilities:
* Ability to stand for 8 hours per shift.
* Ability to operate industrial and mechanical equipment such as dishwashers at extreme heat.
* Ability to lift a minimum of 25lbs.
* Ability to follow direction.
* Ability to communicate both verbally and written.
* Ability to work within a team environment.
Working Conditions/Compensation
Compensation: $22.11 to $25.38 per hour.
Benefits: Vacation is accrued at a rate of 6% or in accordance with your length of service as per the collective agreement (Article 18.1). Access to our EAP (Employee Assistance Program).
This position requires union membership.
