Great 6-month opportunity for an experienced Corporate Counsel to join the in-house legal and project team of one of our energy and infrastructure clients.
This role will see you work across all aspects of a major electricity and telecommunications project including procurement, negotiation of contracts and legal documents.
This role will report to the Head of Legal but will be working closely with all divisions across the business and other lawyers within the team.
The office is located in Melbourne, Southbank with flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
Responsibilities & Requirements
Legal Support:
* Provide strategic legal advice to senior management and other personnel within the organisation.
* Draft and review a variety of commercial agreements.
* Provide legal advice on contract interpretation, risk management, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure contracts align with business objectives and mitigate potential risks.
* Stay updated on relevant legal developments and support compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
* Manage relationships with external legal counsel and other third-party advisors.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent; admission to practice law in Australia.
* Current Australian Practising Certificate.
* Minimum of 8 years of post-qualification experience in commercial/corporate law, preferably within the energy or industrial sector.
* Proven experience in drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements, with a particular focus on infrastructure related contracts.
* Experience in construction law.
* Experience in mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures and major projects.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
* High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.

* Ability to work independently by self-managing workloads and projects, and also be team-focused.
