The primary services are mobile and support Homecare/My Aged Care clients, National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) clients, and Family and Community Services (FACS). This role allows you to be independent and make a mark for yourself as an occupational therapist amongst a well-experienced team. You will have guidance and support with experienced occupational therapists in the form of regular catch-ups, telephone updates, emails, peer reviews/supervision, and professional development opportunities.Roles and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):Supervising and hosting new team members, vital to the development of competencies in the allied health industryQuality control and improvement strategies for team members including shadowing, report improvements, training, and learning exercisesAssessment of clients with disabilities, medical conditions, and other barriers to independence and participation. This may include observations, functional capacity assessments, range of movement assessments, standardized assessments, questions to the client/nominee/advocate, and group conferencesEvaluate a client’s home/living environment, workplace, and other environments accessed to identify potential improvements with equipment, assistive technology, and/or modificationsFacilitate trials of equipment such as wheelchairs and other mobility aids, equipment for transfers, transport vehicles, daily living aids, furniture such as hospital beds and riser chairsFacilitate manual handling training and other learning opportunities for clients and support teamsFacilitate assessments with builders/tradespeople to identify reasonable and necessary modifications to improve access, promote independence, and support the care support network. English needs to be fluent, as do your written skills. However, having a second language is a big bonus for us.
