Sanford Pride Elementary School is seeking a long-term substitute teacher to instruct General Music for students in grades PK-4.
Job Description
The successful candidate will begin on or around April 28th and remain through the end of the school year. The position involves teaching music classes, maintaining a safe and organized music classroom, interacting with students, and collaborating with the SPE team.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide music instruction for Pre-K through 4th-grade classes, including three adaptive groups.
* Organize and maintain the music classroom, ensuring student safety and proper care of instruments/materials.
* Interact positively and enthusiastically with students while maintaining successful classroom management.
* Participate as part of the SPE team, collaborate with other teachers, learn building procedures, and complete assigned duties.
* Communicate with colleagues and administrators as needed for support.
* Demonstrate technology skills, such as using an iPad, navigating Google Slides on a Promethean board, and connecting to Bluetooth devices.
Additional Duties
* Optional: Teach Grade 4 Chorus during the school day.
* Optional: Co-advise the Drama Club, which meets after school on Tuesdays.
Qualifications
* Preferred: Maine State Certification 614 (PK-12 Music) or eligibility to attain it.
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to the teaching assignment.
* Teaching experience (including student teaching).
* Musical experience preferred.
