Location: Callaghan Campus, Newcastle, NSW – travel to other campuses may be required.
The position The Masters of Exercise Physiology is a postgraduate program that focuses on the use of exercise assessments and interventions to prevent, treat and manage a variety of chronic disease conditions. It is fully accredited with Exercise and Sport Science Australia at the level of Exercise Physiology.
As a Lecturer in Clinical Exercise Physiology, you will contribute to the program and work with colleagues to ensure that the curriculum and learning activities align with the requisite professional standards as outlined by ESSA.
It is expected that the successful applicant will conduct high quality research in the field of Exercise Physiology, developing internal and external collaborations, publishing high quality research publications, recruiting postgraduate research students and attracting external funding to support their research activities.
You will:
Develop and deliver a range of postgraduate courses in clinical exercise physiology.Embrace new teaching pedagogies and participate in administrative activities with a view to enhancing the quality of the graduate profile.Develop an independent research program to attract undergraduate and higher degree students to the discipline.Attract industry-based research support and competitive external grant funding to the University of Newcastle.About you You will be experienced in student teaching and supporting student learning. You will also have a developing record of producing high quality research outcomes commensurate with experience.
To be successful in this role you will:
Hold a doctoral qualification in Clinical Exercise Physiology or cognate discipline, with experience in exercise rehabilitation for musculoskeletal pathologies.Hold accreditation (or demonstrated eligibility) as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist with Exercise and Sport Science Australia.Have a demonstrated record of publication in high-quality outlets including evidence of international and national research collaborations and/or partnerships.Demonstrate the ability to undertake high quality teaching as indicated by internal and external surveys and outcomes for students that will improve or innovate in response to feedback.Demonstrate ability to contribute to curriculum development at postgraduate level, taking responsibility for the preparation and delivery of course modules and coordinating courses, including collaboration in curriculum design and delivery where appropriate.Be able to efficiently perform in allocated internal roles, sharing academic service responsibilities, contributing to outcomes of internal committees, and developing external collaborations.Applications from candidates with experience in exercise for musculoskeletal rehabilitation, or management of cancer, mental health, ageing or neurological conditions will be highly regarded.
