Position Overview:
We are looking for a detail-oriented Chopper Gun Operator to join our production team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating machinery to apply gelcoat, colorants, and fiber-reinforced plastic to moulds, producing high-quality fiberglass and laminated products.

Task & Responsibilities
* Machine Operation: Operate machines to apply gelcoat, colorants, and fiber-reinforced plastic to moulds, ensuring precise application to create fiberglass and laminated products.
* Control Regulation: Adjust and control machine settings including temperature, pressure, speed, and flow to maintain optimal operating conditions.
* Material Handling: Measure and load materials, such as resins and colorants, into machines and feeding mechanisms. Regulate material supply and add chemicals and colorants to mixtures as needed.
* Process Monitoring: Monitor machine operation, ensuring consistent material application and adjusting settings to address any deviations or issues.
* Machine Setup: Thread uncoated wire and cable through plastic coating machines, and navigate through take-up reels, dies, and cooling chambers.
* Mould Preparation: Lay casings, beads, ply, and rubber sheets on moulds to prepare for fiberglass application.
* Air Removal: Operate rollers to remove air bubbles from the applied material to ensure a smooth and durable finish.
* Curing Control: Operate vulcaniser presses and manage the curing process to achieve the required product specifications.
* Quality Assurance: Examine finished products for defects and ensure conformity to specifications. Perform minor repairs and adjustments to machinery as needed.
* Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate production records and report on machine performance and any issues encountered.
Skills and Attributes
* Proficient in operating industrial machinery with a focus on precision and quality.
* Ability to follow technical instructions and safety protocols.
* Strong attention to detail with the capability to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on equipment.
* Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Qualification & Experience
* AQF Certificate II or III in a relevant field, or at least one year of relevant experience in fiberglass manufacturing, may substitute for formal qualifications.
* At least one year experience with operating chopper guns or similar machinery used in applying fiberglass, gelcoat, and resin.
* Knowledge of material handling, mixing processes, and curing techniques specific to fiberglass and laminated products.
