This role plays a pivotal part in delivering and implementing the waste-to-energy (WTE) cap licensing scheme under the Circular Economy (Waste Reduction and Recycling) Act 2021 .
You'll work with a dynamic team to establish a cutting-edge regulatory compliance framework, ensuring that recyclable materials are processed efficiently and non-recyclable waste is directed to WTE facilities instead of landfills.
Key Responsibilities Evaluate and advise on WTE license applications, ensuring compliance with legislative and operational standards.
Analyze technical information on WTE facilities and provide strategic recommendations to senior staff.
Implement Recycling Victoria's license administration processes and regulatory oversight .
Engage with stakeholders, industry representatives, and regulatory partners to maintain meaningful collaborations.
Deliver high-quality reports, submissions, and presentations for senior departmental staff and government.
Solve complex regulatory challenges and provide strategic insights for decision-making.
Support continuous improvement in environmental compliance and licensing processes.
Key Selection Criteria Specialist/Technical Expertise: Degree-qualified in Engineering (Environmental, Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, etc.)
or Law (with regulatory experience).
Industry experience in waste-to-energy, waste management, environmental compliance, gas, or advanced manufacturing highly regarded.
Proven experience in regulatory decision-making, compliance assessment, and licensing within strict timeframes.
