The single most important goal of AMAH is to create an environment that facilitates clinical recovery, supports individual recovery efforts and strives to minimise service system barriers to the recovery process. The Women’s Recovery Network (WREN) is an innovative project being developed in response to the Royal Commission recommendations for partnerships between the public and private sector, and the need for gender segregation and sexually safe units. We recognise that women experiencing mental ill-health have specific needs that differ from their male counterparts that require tailored treatment and support. Our 30-bed facility located at Albert Road Clinic will be run in a partnership between Ramsay Health and Alfred Health. The unit will provide a state-wide comprehensive specialist service for women and those who identify as women experiencing severe mental ill-health and trauma. About the Role: This is an exciting opportunity for a person with lived experience of supporting someone through mental health challenges, service use, periods of healing/personal recovery to use their lived expertise to contribute to change within the delivery of mental health services and be involved in the leadership influencing the design and delivery of a new and innovative service model for women. The role will be an important component of the multidisciplinary leadership of the centre working in partnership with the Carer Consultant, Director and Nurse Unit Manager. Educate – lead and co-produce the orientation and training of staff in WREN to ensure an understanding of the value and contribution of the Carer Lived Experience workforce. Engage with the organisations involved in this service to better understand the uniqueness and value of the Carer Lived Experience workforce. Establish – support carer participation, representation and feedback including the development of outcome measures that can guide research and understanding of how the Carer Lived Experience workforce influences the delivery of care and outcomes for individuals utilising the service to improve the safety and quality of service provision. Assist with recruitment and to ensure that there are appropriate supports for the Carer Lived Experience workforce within the Centre including provision of discipline specific supervision, mentoring and leadership. Qualifications/Experience Required: Our preferred candidate must possess the following experience and attributes: Have obtained or are willing to work to obtain within 12 months: - Certificate IV in Peer Work or Certificate IV in Mental Health; or - Intentional Peer Support (IPS) 5 day and/or advanced training.
