Why This Role Matters Journey to social inclusion is a case management service in Melbourne supporting long-term homeless individuals to secure housing and improve their quality of life.
It offers intensive, personalized support for up to three years, focusing on housing access, trauma-informed care, and fostering independence.
A consortium of organizations received funding to deliver the program.
The Peer Support Worker, using their lived experience, helps clients engage with the service and achieve their goals, ensuring high-quality support in line with TSA's values and requirements.
About The Role We are seeking a dedicated Peer support worker for our?Journey to social inclusion program?in a Part-time capacity.
This position is based out of BarwonSalary and conditions are in accordance with the Grade profile SCHADS Award level 3.
Key Responsibilities: Use lived experience to mentor clients, help them build skills, provide emotional support, and transition from homelessness to housing.Develop relationships that encourage self-determination and support clients in achieving case plan goals.Assist clients with activities, accessing support services, and creating new engagement opportunities.Advocate for clients and participate in case conferences and planning.Share relevant information with the team to address client needs.Attend team meetings and contribute to service planning.Foster a supportive team environment and ensure quality services for clients.Maintain accurate client records and adhere to TSA standards.Commit to continuous improvement and contribute to TSA's Strategic Plan.Manage personal wellbeing and seek support when needed.Identify and report risks to clients, staff, and TSA.Follow health and safety policies and identify service gaps for improvement.Engage in supervision, yearly reviews, and monitor personal training and development with the line manager.
About You: Desirable;Experience with consumer participationPeer worker experience.Lived Experience or Peer Worker TrainingBeing qualified or working towards qualifications in Peer Work, Community Services, Mental Health, AOD or similar (desirable)Essential;A lived or living experience of resettling in a home after experiencing homelessnessA strong commitment to social justice, human rights and client centered practiceAbility to facilitate active engagement with people experiencing vulnerabilities and history of complexities in areas such as homelessness, alcohol and other drugs, mental health, disability, and family violence.Well-developed interpersonal skillsAbility to work as part of a diverse teamWillingness to participate in training and professional developmentCommitment to continuous improvement of servicesUnderstanding and application of the principles of confidentiality and privacyIT and administration skills.Strong Alignment to the Values of The Salvation ArmyA Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check A current and valid Working with Children's Check A valid Victorian Driver's license.
