About the role This position is responsible for this position is responsible for engineering assessment of applications, subdivision instruments and the provision of engineering advice.On a daily basis you will: Undertake pre-lodgement and development application referrals including but not limited to an assessment of Stormwater management, Earthworks, Water Sensitive Urban Design requirements and associated modelling, Traffic (when no referral to Traffic Engineer), and consideration of flood impacted sites as appropriate. Identify engineering issues and negotiate solutions with internal and external stakeholders. Participate and/or act for Council in internal and external forums including planning panels and the NSW Land and Environment Court.Provision of professional of engineering written and verbal advice and guidance to the public and staff across the organisation to the highest standard and in a time efficient manner. Assess applications under the Local Government Act as relevant to Development Engineering and subdivision and conveyancing instruments. Preparing referral assessment reports for determination by Council and planning decision making bodies. About YouThe successful candidate should have previous experience as an engineer across a range of development types.You will also bring: Tertiary qualifications in civil engineering Current motor vehicle Driver Licence Demonstrated ability to communicate, negotiate, build relationships and influence others with an engaging approach and technique Excellent project, technology, and time management skills Excellent communication, teamwork, presentation and negotiation skills and experience An understanding of the NSW planning framework relevant to Development Engineering Assessment Operate stormwater drainage design software e.g., DRAINS software to a basic level. Operate GIS software to an intermediate level. Operate stormwater quality assessment software e.g., MUSIC software to a basic level. Operate TRAPEZE software to a basic level.
