Integral Engineering Pty Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our team, based in the office, in Mackay, Queensland. As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in providing expert structural engineering support on a wide range of projects in the Bowen Basin and Central Queensland Ports.
Due to the continued high demand and long-term contracts with Tier 1 mining companies, we are pleased to offer a special and unique opportunity for a Senior Structural Engineer. This is a permanent full-time position available for an immediate start. If you fit either of the following, then we want to talk to you.
1. If you are a Senior Structural Engineer: Ideally a minimum of 10-15 years of local structural design experience and a minimum of 5 years experience managing and mentoring engineers and drafters. You will assume responsibility for the delivery of technical engineering projects for major clients in the Bowen Basin and Central Queensland Ports, reporting to the Senior Management Team (SMT) and actively involved in the future direction of the company.
2. If you are an Experienced Structural Engineer: Ideally a minimum of 5-10 years of local structural design experience and some management experience, but desire to take a defined step up and progressively take your career to the next level. Your responsibilities will be similar to the Senior Structural Engineer with the exception that you will progressively gain more design and people management experience once in the role.
What you'll be doing - Office Based
* Analysing and designing repairs and upgrades to existing brownfield mining and industrial structures such as buildings, conveyors, transfer towers, washplants, crushing stations, surge bins, tunnels, stacker/reclaimers, and shiploaders.
* Conducting site inspections, performing structural assessments, and providing recommendations for remediation or retrofitting of materials handling structures to assist our long-term clients with managing their structural integrity risk from aging structures.
* Collaborating with project teams, site contractors, and clients, to develop innovative and cost-effective engineering solutions.
* Preparing detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and reports to support structural integrity.
* Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
* Staying up to date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in structural integrity and structural engineering.
* Ability to help guide the business's technical direction and development of improvement to processes and technologies.

What we're looking for
* A Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (Engineers Australia certified, if applicable), RPEQ, and CPEng (or at least working towards CPEng if you are an experienced Engineer).
* Must have demonstrated local (Australian) experience in structural steel and concrete design and analysis within the mining and heavy industrial sectors.
* Experience in structural integrity assessments and remediation of materials handling structures.
* Expert knowledge and experience in the application of standards AS1170, AS4100, AS3600 & AS4324.1.
* Experience in FEA modelling & structural software packages (Strand7 and Space Gass preferred).
* Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
* Report writing and communication skills.
* Ability to lead project teams and mentor staff.
* A proactive, solution-oriented mindset and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
* Business development skills and strong customer focus.
* Mining/industrial site experience and a strong safety culture.
* This is not a FIFO position and you must be based in Mackay to provide highly responsive engineering support to our valued local clients in Central Queensland.
