Port Marine Surveyor $148,705 - $169,386 15.4% super Based in Gladstone Full time, permanent position • AMSA Vehicle provided • Generous leave arrangements • Flexible work arrangements The key duties of the position include ABOUT THE ROLE The Operations division carries out a range of important activities to ensure vessels are maintained in good condition, operated safely by people with the required skills, and that cargoes are handled and stowed appropriately to ensure safe transit. Our people undertake a range of flexible and targeted compliance functions, including communication and education, provision of information and advice, certification and monitoring activities, incident investigation and the issue of notices as the need arises. A Port Marine Surveyor's role includes: • Undertake marine surveys, inspections, and investigations to establish compliance with maritime safety, pollution and other legislation. • Liaise with industry on technical matters and represent AMSA in appropriate forums. • Carry out compliance and permissioning activities as required. • Commit to the AMSA Code of Conduct and Values. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE To be successful in this position, you will have the following skills and experience: • Marine Engineer Class 1, or Master (Unlimited) Certificates of Competency, which may or may not be currently valid, or • an equivalent tertiary Degree (e.g. Naval Architect) • Significant demonstrated experience in the maritime industry as senior officer or senior experience in the maritime industry. • The ability to demonstrate personal resilience in the role, especially when working under pressure. • The ability to work collaboratively as part of team and work towards group outcomes in a respectful working environment. • Knowledge of the domestic and international maritime safety regulation regimes and understanding of the principles of various inspection regimes. • Ability to hold and maintain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC); and • Hold and maintain a current driver's licence.
