Exciting Opportunity: APS6 Actuary Analyst (Federal Government Contract)
Talent International is seeking an experienced APS6 Actuary Analyst for a Federal Government client in Surry Hills. This is a 12-month contract with the potential for extension, offering an attractive hourly rate of $60.26 + Super. This is a full-time position (38 hours per week) with a critical role in leading a team and driving impactful outcomes.
About the Role
In this APS6 Actuary Analyst role, you will be in a leadership position, with the authority to manage resources, resolve complex issues, and make informed decisions. Working autonomously, you will interpret legislation and policies, providing technical support and strategic guidance on complex problems. This role involves regular public contact, handling sensitive issues, and liaising with internal and external stakeholders, representing the division and client.
Key Responsibilities
* Team Leadership: Lead, manage, and provide performance oversight for the team, including planning and resource management.
* Technical Analysis & Modeling: Apply advanced statistical techniques, including GLMs and GBMs, and R programming to analyze data and develop insights.
* Strategic Support: Coordinate strategic planning, project management, and policy development to align with client objectives.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Represent the branch/division in discussions on complex or sensitive issues, ensuring clear communication and liaison across stakeholders.
* Data Management: Utilize SQL and SAS to manage and manipulate data, ensuring accuracy and reliability for reporting and analysis.
Essential Criteria
* Experience: 4-7 years in data analytics or data science.
* Technical Proficiency: Advanced R programming, including data manipulation and package development, plus proficiency in SQL and SAS.
* Modeling Expertise: Strong understanding of GLMs and GBMs.
* Qualifications: Relevant tertiary education in Actuarial Studies or Mathematics/Statistics, with progress toward Associate/Fellowship credentials.
Desirable Criteria
* Leadership Experience: Proven ability to manage and motivate small teams.
