Job Description:
The Amazon Australia is seeking a full-time WHS Specialist (WHSS) to serve as a designated safety professional on site.
The WHSS will be coordinating and implementing all areas of the Amazon Global Safety Program as directed by the safety leadership.
This includes conducting trainings and coaching associates on observed work habits, promoting a positive safety culture while complying with Amazon safety standards and maintaining a safe work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Identify and inform management of compliance issues, safety risks, and improvement opportunities through the conduct of daily, weekly, and monthly audits
2. Facilitate incident investigation process
3. Maintain required paperwork to comply with Amazon and local regulations
4. Enter Safety Incident Information in internal database in a timely manner
5. Perform safety observations & audits
6. Train and assist others (Area Managers, safety team members, WHS coordinators etc.) to complete their safety responsibilities (Audits, Follow Safety Rules, Inspections etc.)
7. Perform specific safety training as required by the WHS Manager
8. May have additional responsibility for fire prevention, hazardous waste management, or other safety related activities depending on the business unit and location
9. Participate in process improvement activities and manage actions to completion
10. Understand and Implement WHSMS Procedures. Execute tasks as assigned to your role within the Global and AU WHSMS Procedures
11. Complete and close out all scheduled Austin Compliance Calendar actions assigned to the role
12. Upon review by the WHS Manager, support site leadership to close out assigned actions based on Site Self-Assessment [SSA]
13. As directed by the WHS Manager complete actions assigned via Playbook/ASANA/Peak Readiness
14. Perform the regulatory checks as directed by legislation [Noise, Radiation, Hazardous Goods]
15. Maintain the site/s risk assessment register and complete scheduled risk assessment reviews and/or as necessitated (e.g. introduction of new equipment, change in process path, following an incident)
16. Review Contractor [High Risk] Permit to Work, Risk Assessments / Safe Work Method Statements/Job Safety Analysis

Requirements:
* Knowledge of OSHA regulations, specifically 29 CFR 1910
* Experience maintaining confidentiality in matters involving security or personnel issues in the workplace
* 1+ years experience in WHS OR; A Bachelor's degree in EHS-relevant background OR; 6 months experience performing in a safety-related role within Amazon
* Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel in a professional capacity
* Experience in emergency response
* Experience in worker's compensation case management
* Experience leading and managing a team
* Cert IV in WHS or equivalent
* Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgment, and customer focus skills
