Located 8 kms south of Alice Springs in Central Australia.The RoleThe primary focus of this role is to (in the context of education) identify and map current practices in relation to student support with a view to creating responsive, culturally inclusive supports to students where they are affirmed in their Indigenous identity and given ongoing and varied opportunities to build resilience and thrive. The Head of Student Support is responsible for providing advice to the Student Support Team and expanding the Academic & Boarding spaces. The Head of Student Support will contribute to identifying training and professional development needs and opportunities for staff and to create pathways to upskill across the student support areas.ResponsibilitiesActively participating in the development, implementation and review of the College Strategic plan collaboratively with the Principal and Director of Business Operations.Compile Staff Performance Reviews in conjunction with Human Resource Team.Provide leadership in the creation and nurturing of an environment of care and guidance to students to facilitate their development in spiritual, social, emotional, physical and educational areas.Ensuring that policies, processes and procedures are understood by staff and students and consistently implemented and practiced in accordance with college requirements.Maintain regular consultation with students, parents/carers, teachers and external providers to support wellbeing and learning outcomes for students with complex needs.Ensure all Student Support staff record & maintain appropriate case notes, and other records in a case management system in accordance with current industry standards.Assist in developing student engagement strategies that promote healthy peer relationships between students.Building rapport with students as part of developing an understanding of their needs and factors contributing to their wellbeing.Assisting in the successful daily transition of students between Boarding and Academic environments.Ensuring students engage in regular and creative training in regard to appropriate personal conduct and acceptable behaviours.Ensuring appropriate activity programs are in place and operate in accordance with College policy.Ensuring appropriate liaison with the families of students in partnership with the CLO team.Be part of a rotating Executive On Call Roster.QualificationsPost Graduate Qualifications in Education, Social Work, Psychology or similar.Significant experience in an educational or residential facility.Understanding of Indigenous Culture and willingness to learn.Hold or be willing to gain accreditation as required by Lutheran Education Australia.What is on offer?Above award wage.Salary Sacrificing.Opportunity for growth with 19 allocated professional development days.To better understand more about this opportunity, please contact our HR Team on or email and request a copy of the job description.Applicants must be able to work in the Northern Territory.
