YOUR ROLE IN OUR FUTURE Pharmacy Purchasing and Inventory Manager Ongoing, Full Time - 80 hours per fortnight The Pharmacy department at Peter Mac provides a comprehensive patient-focused service, incorporating all facets of innovative pharmacy practice and research.

The Pharmacy Department is looking for a Purchasing and Inventory Manager to join our innovative and comprehensive service.
This role is responsible for the oversight and management of pharmacy purchasing, pharmacy stock control and distribution services.
The successful candidate will work with the Director of Pharmacy, Deputy Director of Pharmacy (Operations) and the senior pharmacy management team to ensure streamlined access to standard of care medicines.

Management of procurement and logistics •To ensure pharmaceutical procurement and pharmacy stores processes comply with Peter Mac policy, procedures, Delegations of Authority and legislation; •Coordinate Drug Recalls and ensure completed documentation presented to the Deputy Director of Pharmacy by next business day from recall date; •Coordinate the expiry date checking procedure for all Pharmacy stock and ensure the expiry date checking policies are followed so that only in-date stock is available for issue; •Ensure the Peter Mac pharmaceutical procurement service includes optimal electronic ordering and receiving processes; •Develop, implement and maintain indicators of efficient and effective pharmaceutical procurement and implement resultant improvement activities as necessary; •Include environmental sustainability considerations within the scope of quality use of medicine (QUM) framework ; •Plan and implement service delivery improvements; •Ensure stock movements are recorded electronically by the end of each business day; •Ensure regular stock counts occur as per schedule; •Develop and maintain pharmacy store procedures and remain current at all times; •Ensure any incident reports relevant to pharmacy stores are investigated and managed as per department policy; •Ensure the storage of stock is maintained in accordance with current workplace health and safety requirements.
•Ensure pharmaceutical stock is stored in compliance with infection prevention guidelines.
•Coordinate and proactively manage stock shortages in conjunction with the Deputy Director of Pharmacy (Operations)including distribution of relevant periodic communications regarding shortages affecting organisation.
•Coordinate procurement of SAS and S19a (TGA unregistered) medications in conjunction with Deputy Director of Pharmacy (Operations).
•Provide or coordinate leave cover for pharmacy stores and Imprest technician roles as required.

Active participation in staff education and training •Supervise, support and assist the team members to perform their duties; •Monitor the performance of team members; conduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to individual team members in a timely manner; •Support the development of Pharmacy Stores and Imprest staff; •Ensure mandatory competency and Professional Development reviews, are met for all Stores and Imprest staff; •Oversee the day to day operations of the pharmacy stores; •Provide orientation and training to team members.

Active collaboration and development of professional relationships •Lead communication for the pharmacy service with pharmaceutical suppliers; •Work with suppliers to reduce the environmental impact of pharmacy operations within a quality improvement framework, particularly around packaging; •Represent the pharmacy service at key industry bodies, including membership of HealthShare Victoria (HSV) representative groups; •Assist in implementation and evaluation of pharmaceutical agreements, tenders and contracts under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy •Work collaboratively with other senior pharmacy technicians including with the implementation of quality improvement initiatives and coordinate staffing rostering and rotations 4.
Regulations, policies, guidelines and quality improvement •To continually scope best industry practice and implement process improvements once endorsed by the Director of Pharmacy; •To ensure pharmaceutical purchasing within the pharmacy service complies with DHHS, Health Share Victoria and Industry Standards, as determined by the Director of Pharmacy; •Ensure that local environmental sustainability initiatives are maintained with a continuous quality improvement model; •Coordinate annual stocktakes with stock variance explained and store process improvements implemented; •Coordinate regular inventory cycle counts as per Pharmacy Stores procedures •Complete end of month stores reporting processes in conjunction with the Director and Deputy Director (Operations) of Pharmacy within the first 2 business days of the month.
•Ensure any incident reports relevant to pharmacy stores are investigated and managed as per department policy.
