About us The Coroners Court is responsible for: Independently investigating deaths and fires. Promoting public health and safety and the administration of justice. The Legal Services team assists Coroners with their investigations by analysing evidence, preparing draft findings, preparing matters for Inquest, and appearing as Counsel assisting the Coroner. About the role The Principal Solicitor leads through promoting a values-based culture of excellence, achievement, respect, continuous learning, and a shared purpose. The Principal Solicitor works closely with the Director of Legal Services to develop and drive efficient systems and practices to deliver outstanding legal services. About you We are looking for a dynamic and experienced lawyer with demonstrated leadership experience within a complex government or private sector environment. The Principal Solicitor will also possess: Extensive litigation and case management experience, preferably in the coronial jurisdiction or in a related field. Demonstrated knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Coroners Act 2008 (Vic). Demonstrated experience in the successful leadership of teams managing high-volume caseloads.
