Being part of a multidisciplinary team working toward the shared purpose of achieving and maintaining the health and wellbeing of Defence members. Assessing Defence personnel for fitness for duty and providing care that supports the health and wellbeing of members pre and post deployments. Providing medical technical advice to the Joint Health Unit (JHU) Commanding Officer (CO), Joint Health Command (JHC) Health Centre Manager and Commanders of units. Being supported by a Team of Senior Medical Officers and uniformed colleagues. Providing services in either an outpatient setting or inpatient care setting within a ward. About ADF Health Services In partnership with Bupa, our ADF Health Services team provides integrated healthcare services to Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel across Australia. This includes providing defence-ready clinical and support staff across 40+ on-base locations, ensuring that ADF personnel have access to quality on-site medical care. About Larrakeyah Larrakeyah Health Centre is located at the Larrakeyah Barracks in Darwin City. Larrakeyah Defence Precinct is a unique tri-service Defence base directly supporting ADF operations & training. It is the home port of HMAS Coonawarra for Navy Patrol Boats and two Army Landing Craft. The facility has a routine dependency of 1100 personnel which surges every 3 months to conduct pre and post deployment medicals. The health centre provides primary medical, nursing, mental health, dental, physiotherapy and pharmaceutical services. Standard operating hours are generally 07:30 – 15:30 Monday – Friday (depending on role requirements). To be successful in this role you will have: Current unconditional and unrestricted General registration as a Medical Practitioner in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) OR, Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) OR Vocational Registration. Minimum of 2 years' full-time post graduate general practitioner experience in a general practice setting within the last 5 years (or part-time equivalent), GPT Registrar rotations are counted. Recent participation in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities in accordance with AHPRA. Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009) certification. Please note: You must be an Australian Citizen to obtain the required Baseline Security Clearance for this role. You don't need to be enlisted in the Defence Force to work as a civilian on-base and your job stays here, even if the Defence personnel you care for are deployed.
