Your role at St John of God Outreach Services We are seeking applications for a Youth Worker to join our Horizon House Warrnambool team on a permanent part-time basis. The Youth Worker shares responsibility with Management for ensuring that children/young people are safe in Horizon House programs, acts in children’s/young people’s best interests and actively works to empower children/young people. The Position Build strong, trusting relationships with young people, placing their interests and well-being at the forefront of all interactions. Provide safe and stable long term accommodation to a young people who are at risk of being homelessness, creating an environment that promotes growth and development. Offer outreach, strengths based and practical support to meet the continuum of care arrangements for young people with complex needs. Assist young people in realising their aspirations and potential, through participating in education, training, and employment services. Assist in case management and planning for young people Support young people in developing independent living skills You will have an understanding of the special needs of adolescents and trauma-informed care, together with recent experience working with at-risk young people, extensive experience in an area related to youth work and knowledge of the Privacy Legislation and Occupational, Health & Safety Act Regulations. Successful applicants will hold a minimum Certificate IV in Youth Work or similar, State’s Drivers Licence, valid First Aid & CPR and Working with Children Card.
