This role will deliver legal and compliance support across Inchcape’s distribution businesses, including Subaru, Peugeot, and Foton.Your key responsibilities will include:Provide timely and commercially astute legal and compliance advice across all Inchcape business units, focusing on distribution businesses.Advise on corporate, competition, consumer, and privacy laws, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.Work closely with General Counsel & Company Secretary on M&A activities, property agreements, litigation, and other key legal matters.Act as the primary legal advisor for Inchcape’s Australian distribution businesses, offering guidance on contractual agreements, franchise law compliance, marketing activities, and escalated customer complaints.Supervise and mentor the Compliance Officer, ensuring the delivery of high-quality compliance initiatives.Liaise with senior leadership, brand GMs, and legal teams to address key legal issues and provide strategic support on business operations.Why join us?Our flexible work policy helps support you in achieving a genuine work-life balance.Enjoy additional days off including an annual Wellbeing Leave and Volunteering Leave.Access to our employee benefits program including company car rental program, discounts on vehicle purchases and services, free annual flu vaccination, corporate health care plan with Bupa, financial services support, company-paid salary continuance, Death and TPD insurance, and a comprehensive employee wellbeing program.About youExtensive experience in a well-respected law firm and in-house legal team, with strong commercial law experience.Demonstrated experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts.Expertise in franchise law, competition law, Australian Consumer Law, privacy law, and compliance.Proven ability to manage litigation and oversee external legal counsel.Experience in supervising junior staff and fostering talent within legal teams.Bachelor’s degree in law and admitted as a solicitor of the NSW Supreme Court, holding a valid NSW Law Society Practicing Certificate.Experience in the automotive or retail sectors and knowledge of industry-related legislation – Desirable.M&A transaction experience, particularly in automotive or consumer finance sectors - Desirable.Inclusion & DiversityAt Inchcape, we believe the true power of diversity cannot be realised without an inclusive culture.
