ABOUT THE ROLE
The Sports trainer will oversee, assess, and evaluate player injury prevention preparation and sustained injuries during training and matches for the NT Talent Academy programs. Your fundamental role will be to help make the NT Talent Academy programs safer. This is achieved by implementing appropriate injury prevention regimes; applying appropriate initial injury management procedures; and referring injuries as necessary to the Academy high performance lead, physio or doctor for further advice and management.
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF
Key Accountabilities:
* Providing support to players at training and matches for injury prevention strategies through appropriate strapping, stretching, massage and strengthening exercises.
* Assessing player injuries sustained during training and matches.
* Escalating serious injury concerns to the physio, doctor, high performance lead or head coach.
* With direction from other medical staff (physio and doctors) assist in rehabilitation programs if the athlete sustains an injury, focusing on a safe and effective return to play.
* Only work within the limits of their qualifications and hence not assume roles outside of these pre-determined ones. In keeping within the limits of their qualifications, the Sports Trainer must, if appropriate, refer to a more qualified health professional.
* Create a professional, high performance, supportive environment for players, coaches & staff in the NT Talent Academy.
* Support and contribute to the success of the broader team.
* Be available for Academy training sessions and travel with the Academy squads for match day support.

* Exceptional operational, organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
* Experience in working in talented athlete programs or football club programs.
* Staying abreast with modern methods and techniques, including expertise in the treatment and rehabilitation of injured players
* Sports Trainer Level 1 training
* Basic strapping training
* Current Working with Children Check (ochre card)
