Operating in the Northern Territory since 2002, our client is a locally owned and operated business specialising in the construction and maintenance of commercial, industrial, residential and government facilities. Our client employs a skilled team, comprising of Project Managers, Carpenters, Apprentices and Trades Assistants/Labourers.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager to oversee and manage construction projects. This role involves handling project resources (staff, plant, etc.), managing budgets, and ensuring the timely completion of projects while upholding Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) systems.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop comprehensive project plans, considering environmental factors, safety plans, and risk assessments.
2. Supervise and manage project works, ensuring high standards are maintained in line with project specifications and timelines.
3. Source and purchase materials, ensuring appropriate lead times and cost-effectiveness.
4. Negotiate pricing and manage variations with clients or architects.
5. Ensure all necessary permits and licenses are obtained before project commencement.
6. Prioritise and manage project workloads, ensuring deadlines and budget adherence.
7. Assist with estimates and tenders and submit purchase orders in accordance with project requirements.
8. Maintain accurate records for projects, including plans, correspondence, contract prices, and variations.
9. Liaise with senior staff to ensure smooth project schedules and completion.
10. Supervise and manage site personnel, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
11. Provide regular progress reports to senior management and clients.
12. Ensure project completion certificates and operations manuals are obtained and provided to the client.
What you need to succeed:
1. Proven experience as a Project Manager or Site Supervisor in Construction, managing projects within specifications, budgets, and deadlines.
2. Be a qualified Carpenter.
3. Construction Induction (White Card).
4. Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and communication skills.
5. Ability to prioritise, manage workloads, and direct a team effectively.
6. Willingness to oversee staff to achieve project outcomes.
7. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
8. Understanding of plant and equipment maintenance/operational requirements.
9. Solid understanding of WHS systems and legislation.
10. Experience in implementing company safety management systems at a management level.
11. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
12. Current NT driver's license.
13. Ochre Card (Working with Children) or ability to obtain.
14. Must be based in Darwin NT or willing to relocate with full working rights.
