Closing Date: 21 Apr 2025 AESTYour new roleThe Journey to Social Inclusion Program (J2SI) is working against chronic homelessness with its innovative housing-first approach, combined with comprehensive, personalised support.As the Peer Settlement Support Worker, you'll work collaboratively within the J2SI program. Guided by your personal lived experience in resettling in a home and community after homelessness, you'll help participants transition from homelessness into stable housing by providing peer support and facilitating community connections.While every day is different, a typical day might see you:Building relationships and working collaboratively with J2SI staff and participants.Driving out to meet participants in their home or their local community.Providing peer support and connection to participants, while assisting them settle into housing.Supporting participants in accessing employment, volunteering, training, and other community opportunities.We're looking for someone withLived experience of resettling in a home after experiencing homelessness.Good interpersonal, communication and willingness to address and work through challenges within a multidisciplinary team environment.Understanding of and respect for participants accessing services.Ability to adapt to participants' needs effectively and include the voice of the participant while collaborating with different services.Willingness to participate in any training to upskill yourself as a worker within Sacred Heart Mission.Experience with client participation or previous peer worker experience (desirable).You can look forward toJoining an organisation that is committed to promoting and embedding lived experienced voice.Becoming a part of an evidence-based program that is at the forefront of targeting chronic homelessness.Opportunity to have impact on the continued development of Peer Work within the J2SI model.3 years across 30 participants, allowing for time to build a peer relationship to support participants with their goals.Flexible work arrangements are available for maintaining your work-life balance.Social and Community Services Employee Level 4 ($44 - 47 per hour, dependent on experience).Salary packaging expenses like your rent, holiday accommodation and dining out: up to $15,990 pre-tax.Receive 17.5% leave loading every time you take annual leave.1 on 1 supervision and other various practice development and support both internal and external.In house training and excellent career development opportunities.Sacred Heart Mission is a community of dedicated people working together to end homelessness, deep disadvantage and social exclusion.
