About the role: Identify obstructions and influences disruptive to project advancement, and act accordingly within project guidelines and Principal/Client and Company Policy and Procedure. Ability to liaise with all Key Stakeholders, both internal and external - developing and enhancing relationships. Completing project pre-planning processes, such as cost estimations and budgeting. Establishing construction schedules. Interpret plans and communicate contract requirements with all key stakeholders (internal and external). Monitor and collate claims, variations and project information (reports) received from Foreman/Supervisors. Negotiating contract and claims/variations with the Principal/Client and/or their representatives. Negotiate the contracts of subcontractors, communicate with inspectors and relevant stakeholders. Collaborate with engineers, architects etc. to determine the specifications of the project. Obtain permits and licenses from appropriate authorities. Determine needed resources (staffing, labour hire, equipment and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations. Plan all construction operations and schedule intermediate phases to ensure deadlines will be met. Meet with construction managers and coordinate the delivery of materials with vendors. Acquire equipment and material and monitor stocks to timely handle inadequacies. Hire contractors and other staff and allocate responsibilities. Supervise the work of staff and manage on-site construction personnel, providing them guidance when needed. Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports, focusing on project progress, job status and costs. Ensure adherence and review compliance with federal and local health and safety guidelines and standards and report issues. Provide leadership and company representation at Principal/Client project meetings. Requirements for this role: Degree in Civil Engineering or relevant discipline that is accredited by Engineers Australia. PMP or equivalent certification. A minimum of 7-10 years post qualification experience. Proven experience as civil construction project manager overseeing all aspects of projects and working closely with engineers. In-depth understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principles. Experience in Quality Assurance. Experience in:Microsoft Project and other MS programs. Auto Cad and construction/ project management software. Outstanding English communication and negotiation skills. Excellent organisational and time-management skills. A team player with leadership abilities. Strong understanding of Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental procedures in civil and mining environments. Experience with defence, federal and local government projects. Excellent English communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and influence. An understanding of cost control. Must be able to read and interpret drawings and have a technical view of civil and mining projects. Must be fit for work. Must be able to pass a National Criminal History Check. Must be eligible for a Defence Common Access Card (DCAC). Must pass a medical and drug test. Must be able to travel interstate for short periods of time.
