About the Role
CareSouth is seeking casual Support Workers to provideindividualised 24/7 support for young people living in our Goulburnprogram. Our young people come from a background of trauma and weare looking for people who will work with their strengths to seethem thrive. Could it be you?
The overall responsibilities of the Support Worker are topromote a consistent and considered person-centred approach to thedirect care of young people who reside in residential care,ensuring individual needs are met. Support Workers provideemotional support and crisis intervention, maintain a safe andwelcoming home environment, and encourage young people to developtheir social and living skills. Additional duties includeundertaking household and daily general duties, participating inregular team and organisational meetings and training.

A typical day in the life of an Support Worker couldinclude:
1. Building and developing independent living skills
2. Assisting with household duties
3. Encouraging achievement of goals
4. Transporting young people to and from appointments
5. Daily care and support
6. Assist with engagement in education & extracurricular activities such as sport or art
7. Supporting connection to family & culture
8. Utilising support from internal & external specialist services such as Speech Therapists & Behaviour Support Practitioners
We are looking forindividuals who fulfil the following criteria:
9. Demonstrate a commitment to the safety of children, young people and people with a disability.
10. Qualifications in Residential Care, a Certificate IV in Community Services, Welfare or other related areas. (You may be currently undertaking and/or willing to obtain within the first 12 months of employment)
11. Current First Aid Certificate
12. Demonstrated ability to deliver services based on an understanding of the impact of trauma on behaviour and development of children and adults.
13. Understanding of or experience in implementing therapeutic interventions and behaviour management strategies.
14. A positive attitude to engaging with children and young people in a nurturing environment under a therapeutic model.
15. Demonstrated experience in being able to manage duties associated with home management.
16. The ability to work independently and under limited supervision.
17. Contribute to the effective operation of the team by supporting colleagues through clear and effective communication, sharing of appropriate and relevant information and working cooperatively with others.
18. Willingness to work a flexible roster, including weekends, evenings and sleepovers.
