An exciting opportunity is now available located within Nepean Hospital for a Technical Officer Grade 1/2 in a Permanent Full time role. Nepean Neurophysiology Department provides inpatients and outpatient Neurodiagnostic service to Nepean and Blue Mountains Local Health District and referrals from outside the local health district.
This role will see Inpatient EEG services provided to adults, Paediatric patient 11-years and older, Neonatal intensive Care (NICU) and Adult Intensive care (ICU) and Day EEG telemetry and ambulatory. EEG service is also available under this service. Your role as the Technical Officer is required to be trained (if not already trained) and to be able to perform these tests independently.
This imperative role will see Inpatient and outpatient Neurophysiology Nerve Conduction (NCS) and electromyograms (EMG) services for adults only. This service is to be carried out by the Technical Officer under the supervision of the Neurophysiologists in the department.
Training will be provided on site for the selected candidate, who do not hold Neurophysiology training at the time of application and It is a requirement to participate in routine NCS/EMG clinics at least once a week.

A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form – IM011 form).
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.
Selection criteria to be addressed:
1. Qualification (degree, diploma or certificate) in medical sciences, clinical sciences, physiology or biomedical sciences (Eligibility for membership of the Association of Neurophysiology Technicians of Australia. (ANTA) is an advantage)
2. Medical Assistant, EMT or equivalent overseas qualification.
3. Demonstrate experience in EEG and neurophysiological procedures or willingness to be trained in EEG and neurophysiological studies and relevant mandatory clinical procedures, if no prior experience.
4. Demonstrate ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
5. Knowledge of clinical neurology, neuroanatomy and neurophysiology is an advantage
6. Demonstrate ability to work under pressure in a stressful, isolated environment unsupervised.
7. Demonstrated high level witting and verbal communication.
