Job Summary Work in collaboration with credit risk and business areas to shape, drive business strategy, provide advice and identify opportunities through generation of forward-looking management information and reporting. Facilitate and ensure compliance with internal (Absa Bank) and regulatory reporting requirements including timeliness, accuracy, comprehensiveness, integrity, clarity, and completeness of submissions to the relevant stakeholders/ authorities. Adherence to Impairment/IFRS requirements and forecasting guidelines and correct watchlist/non-performing loan (NPL) regulatory loan provisioning categorization. Maintenance of a diary for management information requirements for timely production, validation, and submission of reports in line with internal and external stakeholder requirements. Ensure that management are aware of the data quality risks associated with the information that they receive to make key decisions. Assist in co-ordinating impairment projections to support planning, budgeting & forecasting. Lead forecasting and analysis of data required to make informed decisions within credit risk. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders across business. Job Description Accountability: Analytics, Impairments & Credit Risk Management (50%) Support the Head of Wholesale Credit executing credit risk strategy through collating, analysing, and delivering actionable information that helps executives, effective performance management through data driven. Make presentations to the risk leadership on credit portfolio, monitoring trends and discussing with Head of Wholesale Credit, the Chief Risk Officer (CRO), Head of Risk and Control Unit as required. Maintain an in-depth knowledge of impairment policies and ensure these are adhered to in line with Regulatory and Group Policy. Apply Early Warning List (EWL), Impairment and Forbearance Policies, where appropriate, to ensure impairments are raised or released in a timely and appropriate fashion. Ensure accurate and timely forecasting of impairments. Continuously identify opportunities for enhancing and streamlining services through use of advanced analytics, automation, and optimization. Use of statistical tools and techniques such as forecasting, segmentation, predictive analytics etc to develop, implement and maintain business banking credit risk strategies. Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders in line with Absa values. Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve any queries timely and efficiently with respect to Corporate Credit Risk. Accountability: Models Management (30%) Ensure that all relevant models are understood and input into its development are provided. Participate, review and challenge in the working day meetings to establish month end impairments forecasts and understand impairment drivers. Ensure all impairment modelling issues are pro-actively identified and addressed by regularly engaging with relevant stakeholders, for instance if model inputs are missing or inaccurate, this need to be addressed and communicated to stakeholders. Manage the monthly impairment processes ensuring that adequate controls are maintained to ensure that models are appropriate for the business use and that they are monitored and tracked as per Bank guidelines. Accountability: People and Change Management (10%) Coach, support, and encourage other members of the team such as assisting their technical development. Be responsible for the sharing of knowledge including technical solutions, tips, ideas, and good practices within own and across other teams. Proactively adopt agreed change initiatives, e.g. in support of process and quality improvements. Accountability: Risk and Control (10%) Ensure that all activities and duties are conducted in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise-Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Absa Policies and Policy Standards. Adhere to the Risk Data Aggregation & Risk Reporting (RDARR) policy and comply with risk management practices and behaviours as it applies to RDARR. Accountable for the execution of a process to ensure that the data is accurately reconciled to equivalent financial data if appropriate, and/or to an ADS, unique data source or a core data platform, in line with the reporting frequency. Accountable for conducting periodic review of the process manuals, to ensure that it is still applicable and reflects the current processes. Accountable for ensuring that controls are also implemented on the risk reporting processes. Understand and manage risks and risk events (incidents) relevant to the role.
