Working collaboratively within a small team, you will assist in maintaining and developing existing data tools, and contributing to the development of new data tools for aged care regional stewardship. Additionally, you will assist in the data migration work required for the team’s stakeholder management solution project.This work includes:Querying and analysing aged care dataData manipulation and cleansingDevelopment of data pipelinesBuilding aged care data reportsPresenting aged care data for the state and territory office (STO) networkBuilding capability within the STO networkWorking collaboratively with STO staff to prepare and cleanse existing data sources in preparation for migrationThe Data/ Business Analyst will work as part of a small team by:Understanding business requirements related to the COVID support portal and translating these into business requirementsContributing to policy development, and drafting advice to the senior executive and the MinisterMapping, visualising, and analysing data from various sources in the health portfolioWorking closely with data custodians, data stewards and other stakeholdersContributing to stakeholder engagements, network capability improvements and working groupsSupporting departmental initiatives to improve data literacy and use of dataUndertaking research and analysis and make judgments or assessments on complex issuesContribute to a high performing and positive cultureCapabilities may include:Proficient skills in coding languages (such as R, Python and SQL) and data visualisation platforms (such as Power BI, Qlik and R-Shiny), or the ability to quickly acquire these skills; must be proficient with Microsoft Excel and SharePointExperience with Salesforce essentialProficient in using GIT for version control, and thoroughly documenting code to ensure readability and maintainabilityUnderstanding of database management systems, data pipelines and data typesProvide accurate advice, anticipate problems and contribute to issues management, innovation and process improvementStrong conceptual, problem solving, research, analytical, programming, and/or data modelling skillsDemonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills for preparing high quality briefs, papers, and reportsProficient skills to map, analyse and visualise quantitative dataAbility to explain and translate complex data, analyses and modelling results for nontechnical audiencesAbility to work collaboratively with nontechnical staff to prepare and clean dataAbility to work independently with limited guidance, and to prioritise tasks to meet tight deadlinesAbility to establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholdersSound project management skills, including scope development, scheduling, management of resources, risks, quality, and communications
