What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of the Trainee is to participate in the care of patients before, during and after radiotherapy in the radiation oncology department of Mid North Coast Cancer Institute (MNCCI) Coffs Harbour working with three radiation oncologists, two other trainee's and interacting in a large and busy regional cancer centre.
Provision of high quality and consistent medical service to patients and co-ordination of clinical management, in order to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
The trainee will provide onsite medical support of the outpatients and inpatients under the Radiation Oncologists and to gain education and experience in Radiation Oncology.
1. Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role
2. Demonstrated interest in Radiation Oncology having done relevant radiation oncology terms and/or BSOC participation and are eligible for student membership to the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologist
3. Demonstrated communication skills providing clear direction to peers, recording accurate and legible clinical records, discussing medical information, breaking bad news with patients and their families.
4. Able to make sound decisions in accordance with level of experience and awareness of limitations.
5. Demonstrated excellent clinical skills, judgement and patient advocacy
6. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team which include other medical staff, allied health, nursing and administrative staff to ensure the appropriate management of patients
7. Preparedness to move between services and geographical locations in the delivery patient care, and participate in overtime and on-call as required
8. Minimum two (2) full year’s postgraduate experience in an approved Hospital as an Intern/Resident Medical Officer
