Our client Specialised Breeders Australia (SBA) is a leading producer of high-quality layer chicks to the Australian Layer Industry. SBA also provides services and support to egg producers and other users in both technical and operational areas.
About the Role:
Our Client is seeking reliable and hardworking individuals to join their team on a casual basis, with temp to perm opportunities for the right individual. There are various roles available. As a poultry labourer you will have a crucial role in our operations. The position involves egg collection, egg grading, shed walking, vaccination of birds, farm maintenance, manual handling (dismantle and clean out sheds), animal welfare (birds), general housekeeping, and maintaining biosecurity standards. The ideal candidate would be available weekdays and available to commit weekends when required.
To be successful for the role you must pass a drug & alcohol test, be fit and healthy and be able to work on your feet for long durations, be comfortable working with live birds, combined with the ability to meet quarantine standards such as not having any outside contact with any live birds, chooks or pigs and following shower on procedure to shower on every morning.
Duties May Include:
* Egg Collection and Grading - Assist with egg collections, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. Grading eggs accordingly.
* Record keeping - Assist in maintaining records of egg production and grading metrics. You will also complete reports on bird health and performance.
* Animal Husbandry - Support the daily care of poultry, ensuring their nutrition, health, and welfare are maintained.
* Compliance and Safety - Adhere to WHS policies and contribute to a safe working environment by following safety protocols.
* Operational Tasks - Perform feeding, cleaning, and maintenance tasks to keep the farm running smoothly.
* Biosecurity - Follow biosecurity measures to prevent disease spread and participate in regular biosecurity training. You are required to follow a simple shower procedure every morning before starting your workday.
Key Requirements:
* Be punctual and reliable.
* Team player (ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels).
* A current car license and reliable transport.
* Previous hatchery or farm work experience (desirable).
* Be fit and healthy (be able to work on your feet all day).
* Meet Quarantine standards (no contact with live birds, chooks, or pigs) + (follow shower on procedures).
